Here at Woodland Park Middle School, compassionate classrooms “lead to a more positive culture because all students feel that they belong. Teaching students the skills to foster compassion will propel them forward with confidence and self-esteem.” We aim to open the hearts and minds of our students to not only ponder the hard questions in our society and offer solutions but to also give our students hope and self-efficacy to succeed in their own lives.

Museum of Tolerance - 8th Grade Field Trip

Our goal is to include the Museum of Tolerance in our 8th grade curriculum and pair it with literature and articles where authentic conversations about our collective dilemmas like economic justice, environmental protection, human rights, and violence will occur. We will guide students to embrace the inevitable question: What can we do about it? and teach students to act. Students will use campus mediums like Be an Ally Club, The Associated Student Body, Woodland Park TV, and strong peer mentors from the peer mentoring group WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) as platforms for their social justice restoration.
